The Kung-Fu Kid? Really?

Why do movie executives insist on remaking so many great classic movies? The Karate Kid is being given the "re-boot" plan giving kids everywhere the joys of seeing Jackie Chan as Mr. Han (Mr. Miyagi's new name in this way cool flick) and Jaden Smith as Dre, the LaRusso knock off character. First let me say great classic may have been strong when I'm talking about The Karate Kid, but c'mon! George Lucas already prison raped my childhood with Jar-Jar and Indy watching. At least the new show will be called The Kung-Fu Kid so hopefully when it opens at 19th behind the new Footloose movie with that Zac Efron looking douche from Gossip Girl, people will think it was a shitty knock-off from TKK instead a relaunchbootmake. Can't there be a time-limit imposed on remakes? Nothing that was done in the same language in the last 25 years or something? Oh wait... The Karate Kid DID come out 25 years ago. Fuck I'm old. Let's boost it to 40 then.
