The coming of Carl.

Today marks the first entry in a new blog entitled, quite simply, Carl. Carl is something that was created during one of my boring days at work last week and has now taken on a life of his own. Claiming to be inhabited by a forgotten God from the beginnings of time, space and all that is, Carl is one crazy little bastard who seems to have it in for Glenn, the Thrifty manager. Follow his adventures on my our sister site Carl. Have a good day everyone!

Time Sink

Not many posts lately because work has picked up and gotten a little busier... well that and I've been doing other things which have led to vast amounts of wasted time.

Been playing Metroid Prime for Gamecube and wow what an awesome fucking game! Can't beleive I picked this one up for 5 bucks at EB. Also been reading more than usual. Mostly comics. Mostly. Half way through Interview With the Vampire which I've been meaning to read for years now, and is actually a really good read! I am enjoying it ever so much. Also reading every DC title on the market so I can keep up with this Infinite Crisis mega-crossover. Fucking awesome story telling here! So between reading, working, fucking, and watching movies I just haven't had time, but I will be posting my thoughts on V for Vendetta and A History of Violence really soon.

Til then...

Fucking Super Awesome Cool!

HOKAY! Just a quick post for all you out there that didn't know but the new X-Men: The Last Stand trailer just got released. I had to watch it three times in a row, and man did it ever give me goosebumps! This is going to rock so damn hard. Everyone looks so freakin' awesome. Angels wings are so money, Beast looks fucking cool and Juggernaut smashing through the walls is great! The whole mutant army fight and the Golden Gate bridge getting torn to shit is so fucking pimp. Ugh May is so so so damn far away... This is making me actually start to wonder which will be the better comic book flick this summer. Superman or X-Men? Watch the trailers and you decide! Post away with your thoughts...

P.S. My money is still on Superman though.

Here we go again...

Well I've done a few lists in the past and this time we have my personally compiled list of who I think should play in an ultimate cool Justice League of America movie, were it to ever be made. This is pretty much just for the comic geeks.

Batman:

For Batman it's gotta be Keaton. I don't care what anyone says or how good Batman Begins was, Mikey Keaton will always be the Dark Knight in my heart. Fuck that sounded gay...

Superman:

Hmmm tough call on this one. You need someone who is tough but also is total white bred American... I think if I were to be casting this movie I would be seriously pulling for Tom Welling to put on the tights. He rocks as young Clark and would only need to buff up a bit more.

Wonder Woman:

Ahhhh the beauty that is Wonder Woman would be no one but the lovely Rachel Bilson from The O.C. She already sorta played the part when she dressed up for Seth in the first season. It truly is the stuff dreams are made of. Only problem is she's a little to short, so I'll take Charisma Carpenter as a substitute for height reasons.

Martian Manhunter:

Who can play a big green alien better than anyone? No seriously. Who? I can't think of anyone for this role so I'm throwing in a random name here... Ummm... Julian McMahon actually! He would rock this role!

Flash:

Cocky, brash and totally full of one-liners, look no further than Ryan Reynolds! This guy would be an awesome Flash and he's already been in Blade 3 so he has the comic book movie background. Also he's been rumored to play the Flash in a big screen adaptation should one ever take place. Oh yeah and my Flash is non other than Wally West, no Bart or Barry or Jay.

Green Lantern:

Hal Jordan all the way here baby. He is the only true Green Lantern and as such he'd have to be played by a fearless test pilot type. Hmmm... Affleck! That guy was the bomb in Phantoms. Like Reynolds he has the comic background with Daredevil and I could completely see him in this role.

Green Arrow:

Well this has to be a guy who doesn't look stupid with a bow and arrow so Costner is right out after Robin Hood: Prince of Queers. I think for this role we'd need to have the always awesome Christian Bale. He'd make a much better Ollie Queen than he did a Bruce Wayne.

Black Canary:

Just for the fact she'd be wearing fishnets I'm gonna go with Estella Warren. Yowza! She would be a great addition to the team bringing some amazing... assets, yeah that's it... assets.

Aquaman:

Adrian Grenier was playing an actor playing Aquaman on Entourage and he'd be my Aquaman too. Life imitates art imitating life imitating a guy who talks to fish.

Now on to the bad guys...

Lex Luthor:

In another Smallville nod I think I would take Michael Rosenbaum. He is pretty devious and an underrated actor. I think he'd pull this off nicely.

The Joker:

I'm thinking maybe Cillian Murphy. He'd be a creepy as fuck laughing clown prince of crime. Already a Bat villain as the Scarecrow, but this would be a way better role for him. And besides it's my movie.

Cheetah:

I would love to see Angelina Jolie in this cat suit. It would put Michelle's Catwoman to shame. Fuck it'd be hot.

Sinestro:

Adam Baldwin from Serenity. Not the accursed brother Baldwin. Eew. Those guys suck ass. This Baldwin would bring the right amount of wit and charm to this classic ring slinging villain.

Despero:

Ving Rhames. Big bad and full of attitude. This fucker would be scary as hell in this role. Even with a purple fin on his head.

And I'd throw in Jason Lee somewhere as something because I believe he should be in pretty much everything. Maybe Snapper Carr or Egghead. Either way he's great.

So that's my movie in a nutshell. The special effects would be ILM of course, and the score would be John Williams and Danny Elfman collaborating. Directed by non other than Joel Schumacher! Just kidding! I think I would actually go with Bryan Singer directing an original Geoff Johns script. Too bad it would cost about $500 million to make... Oh well... I can dream.

Agree? Disagree? Comment away with what you think.

News you can sorta use

Well the first weekend of April I'm going to Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle! That should prove to be a fun geek-fest. Can't wait for that one! This will be my first con since the shitty little Victoria one from a few years back. I'll try to post my top ten fat geek moments on here, complete with pictures so you can all revel in my geekdom. Watched a few movies the other day as well so here goes:

The Corpse Bride: 3 outta 6

A little above average flick, but I found something lacking. I think it was that the songs were pretty weak when compared to Nightmare Before Xmas, and the story ended rather abruptly. I also fell asleep a few times so I guess that's not saying much. If you're a fan of Tims work catch this one, if not you probably shouldn't really bother.

Domino: a solid 6 outta 6

What a screen gem this is! Wow! This movie is fucking awesome! Starring the always adorable Keira Knightly as model turned bounty hunter Domino Harvey, Chris Walken, Macy Grey, and a totally bad ass Mickey Rourke! If you are a fan of anything good, rent this one tonight. The story is awesome, but other than the character names not much in it is based in fact. This is not a bad thing though as the DVD also contains a 20 minute documentary on the real Domino Harvey that was done during filming. One of the best things in this movie is 90210 alum Ian Ziering and Brian Austin Green as themselves. Fucking hysterical! This isn't actually a renter, I would just advise buying it. Truly a fantastic movie that I am sure will become a classic along the lines of True Romance and Reservoir Dogs.

Hmmm... anything else... hmmm

Psst... Cindy's pregnant.
